Business excellence through facilitation

CODE OF ETHICS

We use established facilitation competencies to add value to your work.

Clients include the groups we facilitate as well as those who contract us on their behalf. We work closely with our clients to understand their expectations so that the appropriate service can be provided, thereby producing your desired outcomes. We are competent to handle interventions in meetings. If the group decides it needs to go in a direction other than that originally intended, we help the group move forward.

We openly acknowledge potential conflicts of interest.

Prior to agreeing to work with clients, we hold open and honest discussions concerning any possible conflict of interest or personal bias that may prevent us from working effectively toward the interests of individual group members. We refrain from using our position to secure unfair or inappropriate privilege, gain, or benefit.

We respect the culture, rights, and autonomy of the group.

We seek the group's conscious agreement on processes and a commitment to participate. We make a concerted effort not to infringe on the participants' welfare and dignity, their freedom of choice, or the credibility of their work.

We use processes, methods, and tools responsibly.

In dialog with the group or its representatives, we design processes that help the group achieve its goals by selecting and adapting the most appropriate tools. We use processes and methods in which we are sufficiently skilled and that meet the needs of the group.

We strive to engender an environment of respect and safety where all participants can speak freely and individual boundaries are honored.

We use our skill, knowledge, tools, and wisdom to elicit and honor the perspectives of all. We expect all relevant stakeholders to be represented and involved. We promote equitable relationships between the participants and the facilitators. We ensure that all participants have an opportunity to examine and share their thoughts and feelings. We use a variety of methods to enable participants to utilize the knowledge, talents, and experiences of each other. We design sessions that respect different styles of interaction and expression.

We maintain confidentiality of all personal or proprietary information.

We do not share information about a client either inside or outside of the client's organization. We do not divulge group content, individual opinions and behaviors of members, or group achievements without expressed consent.

We are responsible for continuously improving our facilitation skills and knowledge.

We seek opportunities to improve these skills to better assist organizations in reaching their goals. We strive to remain current in the fields of facilitation and consultation through our practical group experiences, ongoing professional development, and research. We develop our professional work practices in the spirit of collaboration.
